About

An italian love story

In small-town Southern Italy lived a Signorino (Vincenzo), who spent his days riding around the village with his beloved Nonno in a classic Piaggio Ape. As he grew, he spent his time working in his family’s pizza shop, learning the tricks of the trade that have made him the certified pizzaiolo – or pizza chef extraordinaire – he is today.

Across the ocean, a young Aussie girl worked hard at her family’s iconic pizza joint in the trendy Melbourne neighbourhood of East Brunswick, learning inside-out what made great pizza and even greater service; she dreamt of one day travelling Europe and exploring her roots.

Call it fate or call it destino; the small-town boy met the Aussie girl in his native Italy. Fuelled by a love of each other – and of course, pizza – the two travelled Italy finding the best food on offer.

A wedding, two little boys of our own, and an international move later, we live in Melbourne, making woodfired pizzas from our very own Piaggio Ape. Our mission? To bring a uniquely Italian experience to your next event.

The name ‘Signorino Pizza’ is a culmination of our history: of course, a nod to Vincenzo’s childhood nickname and his Nonno’s vehicle, but also for the love and commitment we have for our unique vehicle – just like a third son. If you’re after a unique food truck for hire, we’d be honoured to show you our Signorino.

I’m the Pizzaiolo behind Signorino Pizza.

I’ve been in Australia since 2019 and moved here with a dream to start my very own iconic food truck for hire. My passion for pizza is in my blood like many Italians, but my experience started in Abruzzo in 2009 and has taken me to work in Amsterdam, Paris and now Melbourne.

I helped my brothers and sister start their very own successful pizzeria in our paese (village), Montemurro; the highlight of my career so far has been making pizzas for the epic Paris St. Germaine soccer team, including everyone’s favourite goalkeeper, Buffon.

The idea for Signorino came to Gianna and me whilst organising our own wedding in Italy… what better than an iconic Piaggio Ape as a mobile woodfired pizza truck serving authentic food to our guests.

We never found one, but the idea was born, and we now hope to bring our passion, quality and iconic Italian style to your wedding.

I’m the second half of Signorino Pizza… Whilst Vincenzo makes the pizzas, I’m looking after everything else, from taking your enquiries and social media to washing up once the pizzas are cooked.

I spent the first 20-plus years of my life living and breathing pizza at my parents’ restaurant. I started pouring drinks at six years old, and by the time we sold, I was responsible for service, stock, staff and more.

Those formative years gave me a passion for people, food, and culture and a curiosity to travel and see more. So… I moved to Europe and spent the next ten years travelling, partying and, let’s be honest…eating!! There wasn’t a city I visited where I didn’t have a list of local food I wanted to try.

I can’t wait to share our Signorino journey with you and bring the best of both our life experiences to your next event with exceptional pizza truck catering.
